For a long time, his books were lost. People could not find them. Then, a man found an old book in Verona. This book was a palimpsest. A palimpsest is a page that was reused. Someone had written new words over his old ones. This helped us find his lost work again. His writing helps us learn how ancient law worked. It shows how rules changed over time. His ideas were very important to the Roman world.
