Learning about law is very old. In ancient Rome, a man named Tiberius Coruncanius taught law. He taught it as its own subject. This helped create a group of skilled legal experts. Later, in medieval Europe, people studied church law at universities. In England, people learned law through apprenticeships.

Today, there are many ways to learn. Many students earn a primary law degree. In some places, this is an undergraduate degree. In the United States and Canada, it is a graduate degree. These students often go to law schools.

Some people want to learn even more. They can earn advanced degrees like a Masters or a PhD. Lawyers also take short classes to stay updated. These are called continuing legal education. This helps them learn about new changes in the law.
