The ferret-badger is a small mammal. There are six species in this group. We call this group the genus Melogale.

These animals live in many places. The Bornean ferret-badger lives in Borneo. The Chinese ferret-badger lives in China. The Formosan ferret-badger lives on Taiwan.

Other kinds live in Southeast Asia. The Javan ferret-badger lives in Java. The Burmese ferret-badger lives in Burma. The Vietnam ferret-badger lives in Vietnam.

These animals can spread rabies. Rabies is a sickness that can make people ill. This has happened in China and Taiwan.

It is hard to study these animals. There is not much research on them yet. This makes it hard to know everything. Scientists need more facts to help people. They want to learn how these animals live. They also want to learn how to stop the spread of sickness.
