Eiji Toyoda was a famous Japanese engineer. He helped the Toyota Motor Corporation grow very large. He studied mechanical engineering in Japan. Later, he worked with his cousin to build a new factory. This factory was built near a red pine forest.

In the 1950s, Toyoda visited a big car plant in America. He saw how they made many cars each day. He wanted to use these ideas in Japan. He worked with Taiichi Ohno to make new ways of working.
