Finding them is a big task. Some people think Earth-like planets are common. Others think they are very rare.

Many things make a planet like Earth. It should be a terrestrial planet. This means it has a solid surface. Size is also important. Most experts look for planets about the same size as Earth.

Temperature matters too. A planet must not be too hot or too cold. It should be in the habitable zone. This is the area around a star where liquid water can exist.

We have studied other worlds to learn more. Long ago, people thought Mars was like Earth. Now we know it is a dry, cratered world. We also looked at Venus. It is much hotter than Earth. Even Saturn's moon, Titan, has some Earth-like parts. It has lakes and rivers.
