They are known for making music that people all over the world love. This group is one of the most successful musical acts from the 1970s. They have sold more than 200 million records across the globe. In the United States alone, they sold 100 million records. Their music has earned them six Grammy Awards and five American Music Awards. People even put them in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.

Making their music involves many talented people playing different parts. The band is famous for high-flying harmonies, which means many voices sing together beautifully. Some members play the guitar, while others play the drums or bass guitar. For example, Don Henley plays the drums and sings. Glenn Frey played the guitar and sang as well. They often work together to write new songs. This teamwork helps them create hits like "Take It Easy" and "Hotel California."

The band started in Los Angeles in 1971. It began when musicians joined a singer named Linda Ronstadt. The founding members were Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. They played music for Ronstadt before deciding to form their own group. They signed with a new record label called Asylum Records. They even went to Aspen, Colorado, to practice being a band. They chose the name "Eagles" during a trip to the Mojave Desert.

They released a new album called "Long Road Out of Eden" in 2007. The band has also shared their story through a documentary film. Even after some members passed away, the music continues. For example, Glenn's son, Deacon Frey, joined the band to help sing his father's songs.
