One famous part is called the Pillars of Creation. These pillars look like tall columns. They are made of dust and hydrogen gas. These parts act like nurseries for new stars.

Inside the pillars, there are small knots of gas. Scientists call these EGGs. This name stands for evaporating gaseous globules. These are tiny pockets where stars are forming. The nebula is about 5,700 light-years away.

A very bright star lives there too. It is a binary star. This means it is actually two stars joined together. This star is very large. It has 80 times the mass of our Sun. It is also very bright. It shines one million times brighter than our Sun. The nebula will stay for at least 100,000 more years.
