She is known for her incredible skill in performing dangerous stunts. Many people call her the "female Houdini." This is because she performs many of the same escapes as the legendary Harry Houdini. She even performs the "Bullet Catch" stunt. In this act, she catches a bullet in a metal cup held in her mouth. This is a very difficult and famous trick. She was also the first woman to escape a straitjacket while hanging from a burning rope hundreds of feet in the air.

Dietrich uses many different ways to perform magic. She can make animals like doves, rabbits, ducks, and poodles appear. She is also known for her skill with coins in a routine called the "Miser's Dream." In this act, she pulls coins from the air or from people's ears. She can even make people from the audience float in the air. On television, she famously reversed a classic trick. Instead of being sawed in half, she sawed male talk show hosts in half!

Her journey into magic began when she was a teenager. She was inspired by reading a biography of Harry Houdini. She learned much of her craft by studying books. Later, she worked in a "Ten-in-One" show in Times Square. This was a place where many performers showed their skills. Famous magicians like Walter B. Gibson took her under their wing. Gibson was a close friend of Houdini. He said that Dietrich had a special way of making audiences fall in love with her.

Dietrich has performed for many famous people and places. She worked on television specials with stars like Bill Cosby and Loretta Lynn. In 1988, she performed her bullet catch at a big event in Atlantic City, New Jersey. To prove the trick was real, she even offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could prove the bullet did not come from the gun. She has also worked with many large companies for special shows. Her magic has taken her to hotels, nightclubs, and even to Canada.

Dietrich cares deeply about the history of magic. She helps run the Houdini Museum in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Every Halloween, she holds special séances to honor Houdini on the day he died. She also helped find a lost silent film called "The Grim Game." This movie was thought to be lost until she and Dick Brooks helped restore it.
