Dmitri Prigov was a busy artist from Russia. He was a poet, a sculptor, and an architect. He even made video art and music. By the year 2005, he had written nearly 36,000 poems! Some of his poems were written on tin cans.

Dmitri lived during the Soviet era. During this time, many people could not buy his books in stores. Instead, his poems moved through secret channels called Samizdat. This helped his work reach other people. In 1986, he was arrested for a street action. He gave poems to people walking by. He was sent to a hospital, but other poets helped him get free.

Later, he could show his art in public. He joined the Writers' Union in 1991. He also joined the Artists' Union in 1975. Dmitri won big prizes like the Pushkin Prize. His art is now in many museums. He was a leader in a group called the Moscow Conceptualists. This group used plays and art to share new ideas.
