She wrote poems, plays, and news stories. She was born in a suburb of Saint Petersburg. Olga became a symbol of strength for her city. During a hard time called the Siege of Leningrad, she worked at a radio station. She spoke on the radio almost every day. Her poems and speeches helped hungry and sad people feel brave.

Olga faced many hard times in her life. She lost her children and her first husband. She was even sent to prison for seven months. She told the truth and was later set free. During the war, her second husband died from hunger. Olga also struggled with being very sick. Despite this, she returned to her work at the radio. She won a medal for defending her city.

People still honor her today. Her words are carved into a memorial in Saint Petersburg. One famous line says, "No one is forgotten, nothing is forgotten." Even a small planet and a crater on Venus bear her name. She showed how words can help a city stay strong.
