Agrippina Vaganova was a famous ballet dancer and teacher. She was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

She grew up in a working-class family. Her father worked at a big theatre.

Agrippina studied at a ballet school. She did not have a perfect body for dance. Still, she worked very hard. She was very precise and musical. She joined a dance group at the Mariinsky Theatre. She danced there for nearly twenty years. People called her the "queen of variations." This means she was great at solo dance parts.

Later, Agrippina became a teacher. She made a new way to train dancers. We call this the Vaganova method. She mixed styles from France and Italy with Russian dance. Her way helps dancers move their arms and heads with their legs. She wrote a book about these steps in 1934.

During a war, she had to move to a new city. This city was called Molotov. Her dance method is still used today. Dancers in China, Germany, and the United States learn it. It helps many ballet groups around the world.
