Curaçao is the largest of these three islands. It also includes a tiny, empty island named Klein Curaçao. The main island is home to about 158,675 people.

The capital city is Willemstad, which sits on a natural harbor.

Life on the island is shaped by its busy waters. The natural harbor at Willemstad makes it a great place for ships.

Curaçao has a very rich and diverse culture. Many people moved there, including Jewish communities fleeing Europe.

These settlers helped the island grow in many ways. Because of all these different groups, people speak many languages. You might hear Dutch, Papiamentu, English, or Spanish.
