This article covers sensitive topics: religion. Parents can manage visibility in Parental Controls.

A creed is a statement of shared beliefs. It sums up what a group holds dear. Many religious groups use them to show their faith.

In Christianity, many groups use three main creeds. One is the Nicene Creed. It was first made in the year 325. It helps people agree on what they believe. Another is the Apostles' Creed. It is very popular in Western churches. It talks about the life of Jesus. A third is the Athanasian Creed. This one focuses on the Trinity. The Trinity is the idea of three parts in one God.

Some Christian groups choose not to use creeds. This is called being non-creedal. For example, Quakers do not use formal creeds. They value shared connections with God instead. Some groups say they have no creed but the Bible.

Other faiths have similar ideas. In Islam, the word is aqidah. This word means a bond or a tie. It is a way to connect to faith. Creeds help people feel like one community.
