It helps Christians show what they believe is true. This was very important a long time ago. In the year 325, leaders met at the Council of Nicaea.

They met because people had many different ideas. One man named Arius had ideas that caused big fights. Emperor Constantine called the meeting to help find peace. The leaders wrote a creed to settle these fights. They wanted a way to show who was a true believer. The word "creed" comes from a Greek word for a sign.

This sign helped people know they belonged to the same group. Later, in the year 381, the creed was changed. This new version is called the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed. It added more words about the Holy Spirit. Many churches use this creed today. It is used in Catholic, Orthodox, and many Protestant churches. They say it during special services and songs.
