This name refers to Jesus Christ. He is part of the Trinity. The Trinity is a group of three parts. These parts are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Mainstream Christians believe the Son is the incarnation of the Logos. The word Logos means "word" in Greek. They believe the Son helped make all things.

This idea says the Son existed before the world began.

The exact phrase "God the Son" is not in the Bible. It comes from later writings. Some people use the phrase "Son of God" instead. This phrase appears many times in the Bible.

Not all Christian groups agree on this name. Some groups, like Jehovah's Witnesses, do not use the word Trinity. They do not use the term God the Son. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a different view. They believe the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings. These different ideas help explain how people think about faith.
