The state even includes the Revillagigedo Islands far out in the ocean. These four islands are made of volcanoes. They are part of the municipality of Manzanillo. The land goes from sea level up to very high peaks.

Two big volcanoes sit at the northern border. The Colima Volcano is an active volcano. It has a sharp, pyramidal peak.

The other is the Nevado de Colima. It is not active, but it is taller. The Nevado de Colima is 4,271 meters high. It is so large that a national park surrounds it. These mountains help feed many lakes and rivers in the state.

Nature is very active in this region. Many trees grow in the forests. Some trees lose their leaves during the dry season.

People in Colima have a high standard of living. Many people work in services or at the big port in Manzanillo.
