He was born in 1899. He grew up with seven brothers and sisters. Ohlin studied hard at many big schools. He even studied at Harvard University in the United States.

Ohlin spent many years as a teacher. He taught at the Stockholm School of Economics. He also led a political party called the People's Party. During a big war, he helped lead the Swedish government. He served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry.

Ohlin had a very important idea about trade. He worked with Eli Heckscher to make a new model. This is called the Heckscher–Ohlin model. It explains how countries trade with each other. The model says countries sell things they can make easily. For example, a country with many workers might sell clothes. A country with much money might sell cars.

His work changed how we think about the world. In 1977, he won the Nobel Prize in Economics. This is a very special award.
