Lawrence Klein was a famous economist. He studied how money and trade work. He used math and computers to make models. A model is a set of steps to guess the future.

Klein was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He studied at many big schools. He learned math at Berkeley. Later, he earned a PhD at MIT. He built a model of the U.S. economy. This model helped him predict big changes. After World War II, he said the economy would grow. Many people thought it would fail. He was right.

Klein faced hard times in the 1950s. He was part of a political group. This caused trouble for his job. He moved to England to teach at Oxford. Later, he returned to the U.S. He joined the University of Pennsylvania.

He led a big project called LINK. This project linked models from many countries. It helped us see how one country affects others. In 1980, he won the Nobel Prize. This is a very big honor. His work still helps banks today. He died in 2013 at age 93.
