Anthropology is the study of humans.

It looks at how we live today and in the past. Scientists study many different things to learn about us.

One group looks at biology. They study human bodies and how we change over time. They also look at our primate relatives.

Other people study archaeology. They look at old things left behind to learn about the past.

The word comes from Greek words. One word means human and the other means study. In the 1800s, many new groups formed to study these topics. Some used the ideas of Charles Darwin to understand human history. Today, there are thousands of anthropology departments in schools. They help solve real problems in our world.
