Animal Crossing is a famous series of social simulation video games.

In these games, you play as a human living in a village. The village is full of animal neighbors who act like people. You can do many different things to enjoy your new life. You might go fishing or try catching colorful insects. You can also hunt for fossils or pick fruit from trees. There are no set goals, so you can choose your own path. This freedom makes the games very special to many players.

Everything in the game world follows a real-time clock and calendar. This means the game time matches your actual time at home. If it is night in your house, it is night in the village. The seasons change just like they do in the real world. You can even watch a tree grow over a certain amount of time. You can collect items like seashells or discarded objects to earn Bells. Bells are the money used to buy furniture and new clothes. You can use this money to expand your house or decorate it.

K.K. Slider is a canine musician who plays songs on certain nights. You can even meet Isabelle, who helps manage the town. In the newest game, you can meet a manatee named Wardell. These characters make the village feel like a real, living place.

Animal Crossing connects people through many different ways. You can talk to your animal neighbors or send them letters. Many games allow you to play with friends online. You can visit other villages or share messages on a bulletin board. In New Horizons, up to eight human players can visit one island. This allows players to share their unique decorations and styles. The games are a way to relax and be social with others. They turn a simple game into a shared world for everyone.
