They do many different things to make games happen. The company develops new ideas and publishes them for people to play. They also manufacture the consoles used to play these games. The way Nintendo works has changed a lot over many years. They started by making handmade playing cards called hanafuda. Later, they moved into making electronic toys and arcade games. Eventually, they began making home consoles that use microprocessors. These small computer chips allow the machines to run complex games. Now, they create everything from handheld devices to large home systems. This step-by-step change helped them move from paper cards to digital worlds.

The history of Nintendo began in 1889. A craftsman named Fusajiro Yamauchi founded the company in Kyoto.

At first, the business was just called Marufuku Nintendo Card Co. It was a small shop that made cards by hand. Over time, the company grew and changed its name several times. Different family members, like Hiroshi Yamauchi, helped lead the company through many decades. They turned a small card business into a global leader.

Nintendo has many important dates and big numbers in its history. In 1981, they released the famous arcade game Donkey Kong.
