Minecraft is a famous sandbox video game. A sandbox game lets players choose how they play. There are no required goals to finish. This gives people a lot of freedom. Players can explore a huge world made of cubes. These cubes are called voxels. The world is made of many different materials. You might find dirt, stone, or wood.

You can also find water and lava. This game is the best-selling video game in history. Over 350 million copies have been sold.

Playing the game involves many different steps. First, you must mine or break blocks. You can then place these blocks elsewhere to build structures. You can craft many useful items. For example, you can make a pickaxe or a shovel. These tools help you break certain blocks faster. You can also craft armor to stay safe from attacks. Some items have different tiers based on materials. Higher-tier items are more effective and last longer. You can even use a material called redstone to make mechanical devices.

There are different ways to experience the world. In Survival mode, you must gather resources to stay alive. You have a hunger bar that needs food. You also have a health bar. If you lose all your health, you die and respawn. Hostile mobs like zombies or skeletons appear at night. In Creative mode, things are much different. You have infinite resources and can fly. You do not have to worry about hunger or damage. This mode is great for building huge projects.
