Alan Berg was a well-known talk radio host in Denver, Colorado. He was famous for having very strong and outspoken views. Berg was an atheist and held liberal political beliefs. On the radio, he used a confrontational style to interview people. He often argued with callers who disagreed with him. This bold way of speaking made him a very famous figure. His radio program could be heard in more than 30 states.

Berg's life had many different chapters. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, to a Jewish family. His father was a dentist and his mother owned a clothing shop. Before his radio career, Berg became a lawyer in Chicago. He passed the Illinois state bar exam when he was only 22. Later, he faced health problems caused by a brain tumor. After doctors surgically removed the tumor, he made a full recovery. He often wore long hair to hide his surgical scars.

His career in radio began after he worked in local stores. He met a host named Laurence Gross at a station called KGMC. Gross eventually asked for Berg to take over his job. Berg worked at several stations, including KWBZ and KHOW. In 1981, he joined the station KOA (AM). He stayed with KOA until the end of his life. He was known for challenging people with hateful views on his show.

Tragedy struck on June 18, 1984, in Denver. Berg was killed by members of a group called The Order. This group held white supremacist beliefs and targeted many people. They specifically targeted Berg because he was Jewish and had liberal views. Two men, David Lane and Bruce Pierce, were convicted for the killing. They were found guilty of violating civil rights. Lane received 190 years in prison, while Pierce received 252 years.

Many people still remember Alan Berg today through art and stories. His life has been the subject of several books. For example, Stephen Singular wrote a book called "Talked to Death." His story has also inspired movies and plays. The film "Talk Radio" was inspired by his life. Even modern films, like "The Order," portray the events surrounding him. His life remains a way to study how people use media to share ideas.
