Ahmed Abdallah was a very important leader in the Comoros. The Comoros is a group of islands in the ocean.

He was born on June 12, 1919. His birthplace was a place called Domoni on Anjouan island.

He spent many years working in the government. He was even a member of the French Senate. This work helped him learn how to lead people.

His path to power had many steps and changes. In the 1940s, he began working in the government. At that time, the islands were still part of France. In 1972, he became the leader of his own group. This group was named the Comoros Democratic Union.

He served as the Chief Minister for a short time. Then, the islands became independent from France in 1975. He became the very first president of this new nation.

History shows that his leadership was often interrupted. After the islands became independent, a coup happened in August 1975. A coup is when people use force to take power. This meant Abdallah lost his job as president. He had to live in Paris, France, for a while. Later, in 1978, he came back to lead the islands again.

He returned to power with the help of Bob Denard. Denard was a leader of a group called mercenaries.

During his second time as president, things changed a lot. In 1982, Abdallah made his party the only legal one. This new party was called the Comorian Union for Progress.

Because of this, the country became a one-party state. This meant no other political groups were allowed to exist. Bob Denard held much of the real power in the country. He even took over much of the land to build hotels. These hotels were for wealthy tourists from far away.

Ahmed Abdallah's life ended in a very sad way. He was shot and killed in his office in Moroni. This happened on November 26, 1989, when he was 70 years old.

Many people believe Bob Denard was responsible for this. Denard later went to a trial in France to answer for it. A judge said there was not enough proof to convict him. After this, the country went through many more changes in its leadership.
