It is a big set of ideas and beliefs. These ideas help people understand what is true. They also help people decide how to act. A worldview can include many things. It can include values, feelings, and even ethics.

Some thinkers have different ways to group these ideas. A man named Wilhelm Dilthey found three types. The first is naturalism. This type looks at what we can see and test. The second is an idealism of freedom. This type says our minds and will are very important. The third is called objective idealism. This type looks for harmony in all things.

Worldviews can also help with big feelings. Some people study how worldviews help with fear. This is called terror management theory. It says that a worldview can act like a shield. It helps people feel safe when they think about death. People might find this safety in religion or in art.
