World Games

sports Maturity 5-7 Next article →

The World Games are a big event for sports. These are sports not found in the Olympic Games. They happen every four years. This usually takes place one year after the Summer Olympics. The games last for 11 days.

Many people join the fun. About 3,500 athletes come from 100 different nations. These athletes are the best in their sports. They win their spots by being top ranked.

One cool thing is how the games work. Host cities do not have to build new places to play. They use buildings that are already there. Some use old iron works. Others use school halls or zoos.

At the start, there is an opening ceremony. Athletes march in a line. They march by their nation. In the middle of the games, there is an athlete party. This lets everyone join a big celebration. The games end with a closing ceremony. At this event, the next host city gets the flag.
