They are famous for how they build nests. They pull leaves together to make a home.

To glue the leaves, they use silk. Workers find tiny ant larvae. They carry the larvae to the leaf edges. The workers tap the larvae on the head. This makes the silk come out. The silk acts like glue to hold the leaves.

These ants are great at teamwork. They use a way called a force ratchet. Some ants pull while others hold the leaf steady. This helps them move big leaves. They also use chains of bodies to reach far away.

Weaver ants can help farmers. They eat many small bugs. These bugs can hurt fruit trees. Farmers in Southeast Asia use the ants to protect crops. This is called biocontrol. It helps trees stay healthy without using chemicals.

Some ants stay in the nest. These are minor workers. They care for the babies. Major workers go out to find food. They also defend the colony from others.
