This meeting was not about making new laws. Instead, it was about making sure different parts of the government worked together. They wanted to carry out a plan called the "Final Solution." This plan was a way to murder most Jewish people in Europe.

This meeting is a major part of history because it shows how leaders planned terrible things.

At the meeting, leaders discussed how to move people to different places.

They planned to send Jewish people to occupied Poland. Once there, they would be sent to extermination camps. In these camps, the people would be murdered.

The leaders also wanted to agree on a definition of who was Jewish. They wanted to make sure everyone knew exactly who was included in their plan. This helped the government organize their actions more clearly.

This meeting was called by a man named Reinhard Heydrich.

He was a high-ranking leader in the SS. Before this meeting, the Nazi government had already started treating Jewish people unfairly. This began in January 1933 when the Nazis took power. They used laws to stop Jewish people from working in many jobs. They also used violence to try to make people leave the country.

Even leaders from the occupied parts of Poland were there. They met to coordinate all these different groups. This ensured that no part of the government would stop the plan.

We know much about this meeting because of a special document.

This document is called the Protocol. It contains the minutes, or the notes, from the meeting. A man named Robert Kempner found a copy in March 1947.

He found it among files from the German Foreign Office. These notes were used as evidence during the Nuremberg trials. Today, the house in Wannsee is a memorial to remember these events.
