The "Final Solution" was the secret code name for a Nazi plan. This plan aimed to kill all Jewish people they could reach. It was a systematic way to commit genocide during World War II. The Nazis used this term to hide their true goals. They often used such words to talk about murder without saying it directly. This period of history is known as the Holocaust. It was a time of great sadness and loss for many people.

The plan changed and grew over many months. At first, the Nazis tried to make Jewish people leave Germany. They took their money and their homes. One idea was the Madagascar Plan to move people to a French colony. However, a naval blockade by Allied forces stopped this plan. There were also ideas to move people to Siberia or Palestine. Eventually, the goal changed from moving people to killing them. This happened in two main stages.

The first stage began during the invasion of the Soviet Union. In June 1941, the Nazis started Operation Barbarossa. They sent mobile killing units called the Einsatzgruppen into these areas. These units were made of SS members and police battalions. They followed the army to find and kill Jewish people. In places like Babi Yar, many thousands were killed at once. These units moved toward the victims to carry out their work.

The second stage involved moving people to centralized camps. In January 1942, Nazi leaders met at the Wannsee Conference. This meeting took place at a villa near Berlin. Reinhard Heydrich led the meeting with 15 other officials. They planned how to coordinate different government groups for the plan. They estimated that 11,000,000 Jews in Europe would be affected. People were sent on death trains to these camps. These camps, like Auschwitz II Birkenau, had gas chambers for mass murder.

History shows how these terrible events were organized by the state. The Holocaust resulted in the deaths of two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population. In Poland, 90% of Jewish people were murdered. After the war, many documents were found to prove these actions. These included the Wannsee Conference Protocol and many military reports. These records helped the world understand what happened during the war. They were used as evidence during the Nuremberg Trials.
