These countries are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. They work together on many important things. They cooperate on military, economic, and energy matters. They also share their culture with one another. This group helps these neighbors act as a team. If they were one single country, they would be as large as France.

This alliance works through many different ways. The members help each other with building things like roads and power plants. They use a special tool called the Visegrád Fund to help people connect. This fund helps different groups in their societies meet and learn. They also work together on energy plans. For example, many of these nations want to use more nuclear power. They believe this will help their countries grow in a steady way.

The history of this group goes back a very long time. The name comes from a meeting in the year 1335.

In that year, leaders from Bohemia, Hungary, and Poland met in the town of Visegrád. They wanted to create new paths for trading goods. The modern group began much later, on February 15, 1991. Three leaders met in Hungary to start this new alliance. They wanted to move away from communism and toward democracy.

Many important changes happened to the group over the years. In 1993, Czechoslovakia split into two new countries. This meant the Czech Republic and Slovakia both joined the group. This brought the total number of members to four. A huge goal for the group was joining the European Union. All four nations successfully joined the European Union on May 1, 2004. This was a very big moment for all of them.

Today, the group faces some new and difficult challenges. In 2015, they worked together during a large migration crisis. In 2022, the group felt a split due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Some leaders, like those in Poland and the Czech Republic, strongly support Ukraine. Other leaders, like those in Hungary and Slovakia, have different views. Even with these disagreements, the group still helps experts work together. They continue to use their connections to talk about the future of Europe.
