These lands are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia. They are known as the Visegrád Group.

The group started in February 1991. Leaders met in a Hungarian town called Visegrád. They wanted to move away from communism. They also wanted to join groups like the European Union. In 1993, Czechoslovakia split into two parts. The Czech Republic and Slovakia then joined the group. This brought the total number of members to four.

All four nations joined the European Union in 2004. This was a major goal for them. Today, the group helps with money and culture. They also work on energy and power. For example, they want to use more nuclear power.

Sometimes the group has hard choices. In 2022, they had different views about the war in Ukraine. Some leaders support Ukraine, while others do not. Even so, the group still helps people work together. They use the Visegrád Fund to help different groups connect.
