The falls make a loud noise. Local people call it Mosi-oa-Tunya. This name means "The Smoke That Thunders." This is because mist rises high into the air. The spray can be seen from far away. At night, a moonbow can sometimes appear. A moonbow is a rainbow made by moonlight. Many plants and animals live in this area. It is a very busy place for nature. Many people visit the falls to see them.
