The language uses the Latin alphabet to write words. It has many sounds. Some older people use special click sounds. These clicks can show feelings, like being annoyed. Setswana also uses tones. This means the pitch of your voice can change a word's meaning. A person might say one thing or something else just by changing their tone. Writing the language can be a way to keep history alive. Many writers have worked hard to study and write in Setswana.
