It is also called Tshivenḓa. People use this language in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Many Venda speakers live in the Limpopo province. There are about 1.2 million speakers in South Africa. In Zimbabwe, there may be one million speakers too.

The Venda language uses the Latin alphabet. This is the same set of letters used in English. However, Venda uses five extra letters with marks. These marks help people make the right sounds. For example, some letters have a mark below them. Others have a dot on top.

Writing also uses a system called Luṱhofunḓeraru lwa Mibvumo. This system helps people write the Venda language correctly. The sounds in Venda are very special. The language uses different tones. A tone is the pitch of your voice. The pitch can change how a word sounds. This helps people tell words apart. Venda is a big part of life for the Venda people.
