Many plants grow here naturally. You might eat a banana or a mango. People also grow rice and sugarcane in these areas. Some plants, like okra, are native to the tropics.

Other plants come from cooler places. Farmers work to help these plants grow in the heat. In the tropics, the rain changes with the seasons. There are wet seasons and dry seasons. The heat can also change with height. High hills are often cooler than low lands. These cool hills help certain plants grow well. Most tropical plants love the bright sun. They are used to lots of light. Some plants are sensitive to how long the days are. They can also live through long dry times. This work covers many types of plants. This includes fruits, flowers, and even trees.
