There are three main types of tropical climate. The first is the tropical rainforest. It is very wet. It can get over 100 inches of rain a year. Many trees live here. They grow in layers to reach the sun. Trees also help make the air wet. This happens through transpiration. That is when water moves from plants into the air.

The second type is the tropical monsoon climate. It has a short dry season. This usually happens in winter. These areas often have big forests with many layers.

The third type is the tropical savanna. This area has flat grasslands. Some parts have small woods. These grasslands cover a big part of Earth.
