Instead of using the whole animal, hunters keep parts. These parts are called trophies. They might keep a head, hide, or tusks. A taxidermist helps prepare these parts for display.

Many people display trophies in special rooms.

People have strong views about this practice. Some say it helps nature. In North America, hunting can help pay for wild lands. This is part of a law called the Pittman Robertson Act. In Pakistan, trophy hunting helps local people. They get 80% of the money from hunting licenses. This helped the Markhor sheep population grow.

Other people disagree with trophy hunting. They worry about hunting animals for fun. Some people also dislike ranch hunting. This is when animals are raised just to be hunted. In Africa, trophy hunting brings in much money. This money helps the tourism industry. Some countries even ban trophy hunting to protect animals. For example, Kenya and Malawi have bans in place.
