Big-game hunting is the hunt for large animals.

People hunt these animals for many reasons. Some hunt for meat to eat. Others hunt for trophies or animal parts. These parts can be fur, horns, or tusks.

Humans have hunted big game for a very long time. Long ago, people used spears and large rocks. They even hunted mammoths in groups.

Today, hunters use many different ways to find animals. Some use a method called stalking. This means they follow an animal very quietly. They may use camouflage to hide their scent or look. Others use an ambush. This is when a hunter waits in a hidden spot called a blind.

Many hunters use rifles to hunt. Some skilled hunters also use bows and arrows.

Hunting also has rules. Many hunters follow a rule called fair chase. This means the hunt should be a fair test of skill. In some places, hunting fees help wild animals. The money helps people manage and protect wildlife. For example, fees in Africa help protect lions and rhinos.
