Tronador is a tall volcano in the Andes mountains.

It sits on the border of Argentina and Chile. This volcano is extinct, which means it does not erupt anymore. People call it the "Thunderer." They gave it this name because falling ice makes loud sounds.

The mountain is very high. It is more than 1,000 meters taller than nearby mountains. It has eight glaciers. Glaciers are large sheets of ice.

One glacier is named Ventisquero Negro. In Spanish, this means "black snowdrift." It looks dark brown. This happens because the ice picks up dirt and sediment.

Many people like to climb Tronador. They often visit a mountain hut called Refugio Otto Meiling.

Some people hike to see the Castaño Overa glacier. But the ice is changing. The glaciers are retreating. This means they are getting smaller. The air in the upper atmosphere is getting warmer. This warming makes the ice melt away. The mountain has many peaks. The highest peak is called Anon or Internacional. It is 3,484 meters tall.
