A team is a group of people working together.

They work toward one common goal. Members use their own skills to help the group. This can make the group even stronger than one person alone.

Teams can work in many ways. Some teams work in person. Other teams use technology to talk. We call these virtual teams.

Members of virtual teams may live in different countries. They might rarely meet face-to-face.

Some teams are built for a short time. These are called project teams. They form to finish one specific task. Once the task is done, the team ends.

There are also different ways members act. In an interdependent team, everyone must help.

A rugby team is a good example. No single player can win a game alone.

Other groups are called independent teams. In these groups, people do their own work. A track and field team is one example. Each runner performs their own race. One runner's speed does not change how the next person runs.
