Fire has been part of Earth for a long time. About 420 million years ago, the first wildfires happened. This was because plants added much oxygen to the air. Today, humans use fire in many ways. We use it to cook food and keep warm. We also use it to make power. In power stations, fire heats water to make steam. This steam turns turbines to make electricity.

Fire can also help nature. It can help new plants grow. But big fires can be dangerous to people and homes.
