Surveyors measure the distance and angles between points. This work helps people make maps and set land boundaries. It is also used to plan big building projects.

Surveying is a very old job. In ancient Egypt, workers used ropes and math to find boundaries. They even used these skills to build the Great Pyramids.

Later, the Romans made surveying a real profession. In the 1800s, surveyors helped build railroads and canals. They even mapped huge mountain ranges like the Himalayas. Today, we use high-tech tools for this work. One tool is a total station. This device can measure both angles and distances very fast. We also use GPS, which stands for Global Positioning System. This uses satellites in space to find a location. Some surveyors even use drones to look at the land from above.
