Scientists say this cat is vulnerable. This means there are not many left in the wild. There are likely fewer than 10,000 mature cats. One big problem is deforestation. This is when too many trees are cut down. People clear forests for farms and homes. This takes away the cat's home. In Borneo, many forests were lost by 2005. The cats also face threats from illegal hunting. Many groups now work to study and protect them.
