It matches the images on the screen. You hear talking, music, and sound effects. In a movie, these sounds start on separate tracks. Workers mix them into one composite track. This is the final sound you hear.

Many people buy soundtrack albums to listen to at home. These albums often feature the music from the film. Some albums are called film scores. A score uses instruments to tell the story. A famous example is the music from Star Wars.

Other albums focus on songs. Some movies are musicals, like Grease. These albums feature the songs from the show. Some albums even have pop songs used in the background.

Video game soundtracks are also very popular. They include music from different levels and menus. In the past, making these was hard. Before tape, makers had to copy sounds from one disc to another. This could make the sound quality lower. Today, soundtracks help us feel the magic of a story.
