He was a very clever man. He was also known for being tricky. One time, he told a secret about the god Zeus. This made the gods very angry.

Sisyphus tried to trick death itself. He even trapped the god of death in chains. This meant no one could die for a while. Eventually, the gods caught him. He was sent to the underworld. There, he received a hard punishment. He had to roll a huge rock up a hill. Every time he got near the top, the rock rolled back down. He had to do this forever.

People still talk about him today. We use the word "Sisyphean" to describe his task. It describes work that is very hard but feels pointless. Some thinkers look at his story in different ways. One thinker, Albert Camus, said we should imagine Sisyphus is happy. He thought the struggle itself could fill a person's heart. Others see the story as a symbol for many things, like the sun rising and setting.
