Sister Ping was a famous woman from China. She was born in a small farming village in 1949. As a child, she worked hard on a family farm. She helped raise pigs and rabbits. She also chopped wood for her family.

Later, Ping moved to New York City. She lived in Chinatown, a part of Manhattan. In New York, she ran a large smuggling group. People who do this are called snakeheads. They help people move to new countries in secret. This is against the law.

Sister Ping was very successful at her work. She helped about 3,000 people reach the United States. She charged a lot of money for her help. Some people paid between $25,000 and $45,000. She made a lot of money from these trips.

However, her work was dangerous and illegal. In 2000, police caught her in Hong Kong. She was sent to the United States to face trial. A court sent her to prison for 35 years. She stayed in prison until she died in 2014.
