More people live on Earth every year. We need more food to feed them. This change is called the Second Green Revolution. It is named after an older change in farming.

Some people want to use new science to grow food. They want to use genetic engineering. This is a way to change how crops grow. They want to make crops that grow more food. These plants could survive a drought. A drought is when there is no rain. They could also survive a flood. New crops might fight off bugs and sickness. This helps farmers grow more on the same land.

Bill Gates is a person who supports this idea. He says small farms need to be more productive. This could help with hunger and poverty. He has given over 1.4 billion US dollars to help farming.

Other people have different ideas. They think we must fix how food is shared. They want to use organic ways to farm. This means using natural ways to grow food. They also want to use urban agriculture. This is growing food in cities. They want to use smaller farms to help the Earth.
