It lives in Indo-Pacific waters. These sea apples are sea cucumbers. They have round bodies and feathery tentacles. They also have tube feet. These feet help them move and stick to things.

Sea apples eat plankton. Plankton are tiny living things in the water. The sea apple uses its tentacles to filter food. It brings each tentacle to its mouth. This scrapes the food off. They usually feed at night. This keeps their soft arms safe from predators.

Sea apples have ways to stay safe. They can release a toxin called holothurin. This is a bad liquid that can poison others. They can also do evisceration. This is when they push their insides out of their bodies. If they are in a bad spot, they drink seawater. This makes them swell to nearly double their size. This helps water currents carry them away.

Many people want them for aquariums. But they often starve in tanks. This is because there is not enough plankton to eat.
