Rosales is a large group of flowering plants. It has about 7,700 different species. These plants grow in many places. You can find them in the mountains. They also grow in the tropics and the arctic.

Many of these plants are very useful. The rose family is called Rosaceae. This family includes many foods we eat. You might eat apples, pears, or plums. Strawberries and raspberries are also in this family. Some people use roses to decorate gardens. Roses are even used in poems and books.

Other plants in this group make important things. The mulberry family is called Moraceae. Mulberry leaves feed silkworms. These worms make silk. Fig trees also belong to this family. Some figs make a juice called ficin. This can kill tiny worms in animals.

Some plants in this group use wind to pollinate. This is the way they make new seeds. This happens for many families in Rosales. This includes the elm family and the nettle family.

Other plants are used for many jobs. The cannabis plant has been used for a long time. People use it for hemp. Some people use it as a drug.
