Ripley used many ways to find his amazing stories. He drew cartoons about unusual sports feats and exotic places. He also looked at items sent in by his readers. People sent him photos of odd vegetables or strangely marked animals. Ripley would then draw these items for his newspaper panels. He wanted to show these small-town treasures to everyone. He even recorded radio shows in wild places like snake pits. He once recorded shows underwater and from the sky.
